Black Bear Lodge is conveniently located on U.S. Route 52 in Mercer County, WV, for easy access to 700 miles of trails in Mercer County and the surrounding counties. Pocahontas trail head across the street to trail 15. You will be seconds from the adventure of a lifetime when you book your stay with us. 

The lodge is family owned and operated founded in 2010.

  • Additional Pet Fee -  $30 per night

  • Winter Special---Nov thru Feb. $100 off 3 night stay.

  • Pet owners are responsible for picking up any dog waste on the lodge grounds.

  •  

  • All pets must be in a kennel or secured when a unit is unoccupied.

  • Pet owners are responsible for any damage caused by their pet inside or outside of the unit.

  • Cancellation Policy and Refunds

  • We know that plans can go astray. However, we rely primarily on advance reservations and

  • cancellations can't always be filled.

  •  

  • To be fair to all concerned, our policy is as follows:

  • Any rental fees paid, less a $50 processing fee plus any credit card fees, are refundable, if the reservation is cancelled at least 30 days prior to your arrival date.

  • If you cancel during the 30 days prior to your arrival, you will forfeit all rental fees collected. If the cancelled reservation is re-booked, we will refund any rental fees paid, less a $50 processing fee plus any credit card fees, at the end of that rental.

  • No shows will be charged in full unless the reservation is re-booked.

Hatfield-McCoy to break record: Trail system on track to top last year’s permit sales by 5,000

As spring weather approaches, the Hatfield-McCoy Trail system was off to a strong start Wednesday while a manufacturer of ATVs debuted its new off-road models on southern West Virginia’s trails.

Jeffrey Lusk, executive director of the Hatfield-McCoy Regional Recreation Authority, said the new ATV tourist season is looking good. Lusk checked the authority’s records for trail pass sales last season. The figures included the number of out-of-state visitors coming to West Virginia to ride the trails which includes the Pocahontas Trail in Mercer County.
